Just a question on the Vassal Engine. I've never used it but have taken a look at it: will there be one (game master) who will continuously update the game board/ cards etc and will that automatically synchronize with our own 'clients'?

You use Vassal in "offline" mode.

It will go like this:

  • I will make an initial save game. In it, I set up the board, put all the "secret stuff" (ACs, PCs, objective cards, etc.) in the GM area.
  • I post this save game in the forum.
  • In turn, each player downloads this save, logs in, performs a small, meaningless action (like jiggle a GF around a quarter of an inch, or write "hello, Mentak reporting in" in the comment field, something like that) and creates a log file of this.
  • Next player opens this log, and, VERY IMPORTANT: steps all the way through the log until the end and the question "do you want to make a new logfile?" pops up.
  • He makes a new log file, also jiggles a GF around or something, saves the log, and uploads it.
  • After all the players have signed in, I will deal the Preliminary objectives.
  • Players can download this log, and, VERY IMPORTANT: step all the way through the log until the end and the question "do you want to make a new logfile?" pops up.

All players can, when their turn is up:

  • Download the last log from the forum.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: step all the way through the log until the end and the question "do you want to make a new logfile?" pops up. (I have said this three times now. That is for a reason. )
  • You start a new log.
  • You do your moves, which are logged.
  • You close, save, and upload the log.
  • Along with posting your log, you describe your action(s).

Because of Vassal player locking, players are not able to see each other's AC and PC decks, the GM area, or able to manipulate (flip over, or peek at) cards not placed by themselves.

Thanks banzailizard. I will take your spot, mainly because I know I can only learn this game by a playthrough.

Good luck, everyone!

I am sorry, but, you are just too late.

I have 6 players now; the last one to join was Voxfini, and banzailizard stepped back.

Why doesn't this website ever send an email?
If someone runs a business, they need to be notified of new games.
=(
